Objectives at the start of the game for the team were to make leading runs and use the space, get back at pace and be solid in defense, hassling the opposition from their shoulder.

Most of the first half was spent in our attacking half with numerous opportunities we couldn't quite get on the end of, with quick turnovers from Phoenix Blues. We struggling to get through their strong defenders flat stick tackles and to stay on opposition players in the turn over.

After a solid half time team talk, where there clear objectives of tight marking, getting back at pace and to continue getting those shots on goals appeared bought the whole team back to life! The second half was like a new and refreshed North Staffs 2nd team with notable play from Eleanor, Becky and Evie. We set a solid press EVERY time and left Phoenix Blues no option but to try a hit down the pitch, which was intercepted well by Mel or PJ everytime.

This increased pressure and great use of width resulted in two fantastic goals, two cracking strikes from top D from Pj and Evie Smith Allen.

North Staffs 2s should hold their heads high continuing into next week having listened to and acted on all coaching points from training and pitch side. There wasn't a single player who didn't improve tenfold in that second half and everyone should be very proud of the result they worked as a team to produce.
