Match 2/3 for preseason friendlies took the Ladies 2s all the way south to the depths of Sutton Coldfield for a match against Streetly.

After the last match of last season got called off (when we were ahead!) by what could only be described as “tropical” weather, the North Staffs Ladies 2s had a point to prove to show that they didn’t deserve to be relegated last season.

Thoughout the first half, it was strike after strike from PJ and Tracy leading the attack, whilst the rest of the team defended high to put a stop to any counter attack that came their way.

Half time came and the team was in disbelief that one of the countless shots hadn’t hit that backboard. Yet the 2s went out determined to score and break the deadlock.

Second half and a few more short corners but still no luck, when suddenly Streetly broke fast and within 60 seconds they had scored.

The girls then continued to try and bounce back from being 1-0 behind and even with several short corners in the last moments of the game, it wasn’t to be.

There were some learning points but also a lot of positives from the game that the ladies 2s will take forward into the season as they aim for promotion out of Staffs Div 3.
